CONTEXT was commissioned to create a visitor centre for the Reptile and Amphibian Conservation Centre (RACC) at Taronga Zoo.
The vision is to create an immersive and exciting visitor entry experience to the RACC facility, creating a sense of wonder and delight along the landscape journey. The role of the entry will be critical to the guest’s experience – sight, sound, smell and touch.
The Visitor Centre incorporates a Forest Walk to signify the importance of entering the site, a constructed ‘Gully’ that responds to the former creek that once stood there. The building is seamlessly incorporated into the landscape with a Green façade that helps integrate the RACC facility into the rest of the site.
