Birrong Girls and Boys High School

Together with TKD architects, CONTEXT was involved in the upgrade and extension, of both Birrong Boys High School and Birrong Girls High School, establishing new learning facilities and upgrading the surrounding landscape provision.

The landscape was developed in regular close contact with the various consultants to ensure the proposals met the specific and complex requirements of the existing sites, including the protection of significant existing trees and management of substantial retaining walls & level changes across the landscape.

The landscape embellishments included a multi-sports court surrounded by tiered amphitheatre seating. This court was carefully located to be nestled amongst existing native shade trees, and acts as the focal point for the social, physical, and communal activities within the school.  A considered palette of native, shade tolerant and robust planting was curated to ensure an aesthetic and successful landscape outcome for the school. The landscape design works carefully with the natural slopes of the site to ensure that a gentle, rolling and accessible landscape is provided.
