Western Sydney Parklands Bungarribee Precinct

Location Blacktown, NSW
Client Landcom & Dept. of Planning
Year 2007

The Bugarribee precinct is a vibrant hub of recreational activity accessible to over two million western Sydney residents. CONTEXT was engaged to review and develop the precinct master plan to better integrate the different land use elements within the parklands and to enhance the recreational potential of the setting.

Working with the natural topography and landscape constraints, the precinct has been divided into a range of landscape types and uses, dissected by Eastern Creek. New entry precincts, a recreational hub, a new tourist related institutional precinct have been introduced to the eastern side to integrate with the proposed residential precinct and surrounding neighbourhood. The former airstrip is interpreted as a strong landscape gesture uniting the east and western sides. To the west, the flood prone lands are reserved for community farms and productive lands, whilst to the north; a large sports precinct comprising five new sports fields, tennis courts, and a grandstand will be developed in conjunction with Blacktown City Council.
