CONTEXT is the Landscape Architect for this major city branding exercise for Al Ain, the 3,000 year old ‘Oasis City’ of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Working with Roberts Day, Urbis, and Place Partners for the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi governments, this pioneering study charts the physical, socio-cultural, economic, urban design, landscape and branding/ marketing potential of the city and identifies objectives, principles and development projects for reinforcing the brand and enhanced lifestyle for the community.

Context worked closely with the city, participated in public workshops and identified major landscape, planning and design opportunities founded on the city’s rich natural, cultural and heritage assets.

The Landscape and Public Realm Strategy identifies broad infrastructure and plantings that define the City’s perimeter, enhanced parklands, environmental management and sustainable practices to protect the delicate local ecosystem.
