South West Sydney Urban Design Strategy

Location South West Sydney, NSW
Client Roads & Maritime Services
Year2015

CONTEXT in conjunction with Cox Architects and Parsons Brinkerhoff prepared the Urban Design Strategy for Roads and Maritime Services to provide urban design direction to the development of the road network in the South West Sydney region.

The Strategy was prompted by the announcement of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan (WSIP), which involves major road upgrades that will capitalise on the economic gains from developing an airport at Badgerys Creek and the Western Sydney Priority Growth Area.

Context provided input to the design guidelines and prepared the landscape character assessment and road corridor conceptual landscape responses that anticipate the changes to the area’s character as it is developed.

The landscape response for each road corridor is a function of the combination of existing landscape character and proposed future development within which the road corridor lies.
