CONTEXT was engaged with Conybeare Morrison as part of an Alliance with the NSW RTA, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Thiess to undertake the urban and landscape design and documentation for the upgrade of the Coopernook to Herons Creek section of the Pacific Highway.

The design focused on achieving high impact within the constraints of a tight budget. In order to achieve this, the landscape was zones to allow maximum impact at key areas such as interchanges and areas with significant environmental and cultural significance.

The landscape is based on enhancing the locally endemic vegetation communities. Plant stock was sourced where possible from a program of on site seed collection and propagation to enhance the sites biodiversity.

Innovations in the landscape included the trials of planting and seeding techniques prior to the commencement of the landscape installation establish the processes which netted the most successful landscape outcomes.
