Architect COX Group
Orchard Road is Singapore’s major retail street and shopping destination. Winning an international competition, CONTEXT worked with The Cox Group and Arup to revitalise and enhance this iconic streetscape for the Singapore Tourism Board. The $40 million project extended over 2 km and included improvements to existing footpaths, new paving, special lighting effects, public artworks, new street furnishings and extensive landscaping. The landscape experience is lush, sensory and colourful, highlighting the retail precincts of Tanglin, Orchard, and Somerset with the three distinctive themes: ‘Flowers’, ‘Forest’, and ‘Fruits//Cultivated Nature.’ The emblematic streetscape and landscaping reinforces Singapore as a ‘City in A Garden’.
