Oi Choong
CONTEXT

Oi Choong has over twenty five years of distinguished experience as a landscape architect in the public and private sectors. She has extensive experience in master planning, urban landscapes, waterfronts, planning new communities and campus landscapes. Since establishing CONTEXT Landscape Design in 1990 she has directed award winning local and international landscape master planning projects in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Asia. These include the Kuching Waterfront Sarawak, East Malaysia, (World Waterfront Award 1994) Walsh Bay Redevelopment, Sydney (Lloyd Rees Award 2004) Centennial Parklands Tree Master Plan ( AILA Merit Award 2003) University of NSW Mall (AILA Project Award 2001) M7 Westlink Orbital, Moore Park Plan of Management, Dubai Festival City, Nanjing Waterfront, China and University of Science and Technology, Shanghai.

Oi was a member of the master plan team for the 2000 Olympics at Olympic Park, Sydney and was involved in the design of numerous Olympic sites including the Rowing Facilities, Velodrome and the new Sydney Showground. She has also served as a Board member of the Landscape Professions Registration Board, the Floriade Board of Management and the Festival Development Corporation Board, Mt Penang Parklands.

Hamish Dounan

Hamish has extensive local and international experience in residential master planning, public domain, urban design, streetscape and park design, infrastructure projects for major roads and transit ways, resorts and commercial developments.

His broad experience in all aspects of landscape architecture and the landscape construction industry has seen him lead high-profile projects including Dubai Waterfront Phase 4 and 6, Waterpoint Public Domain (Vietnam), Emirates Luxury Resort (Wolgan Valley), Al Ain City Image Management Strategy UAE and the green infrastructure of Pacific Highway Upgrade (Tintenbar to Ewingsdale). A passion for innovative and environmentally sensitive landscape design solutions is backed by extensive site supervision experience and horticultural knowledge.

Laura Pyne
CONTEXT

Laura has worked across all sectors of the industry. She excels during the concept and master planning phases of the design process where she has the opportunity to apply her theoretical and practical understanding of public space.

She is able to combine her macro-scale vision and impressive graphic communication skills to effectively contribute to the design team. Laura has developed into a well considered landscape architect who approaches each project to create design outcomes that address the integration of the built form with the landscape and to create comprehensively sustainable developments.

Laura has developed a strong association with several bodies within the design and construction industry and has been working at UNSW as a tutor within the Landscape Architecture program.

Jon Kane
CONTEXT

Jon has worked on a number of diverse projects and has experience in project management, detailed design and construction documentation, design development, community consultation, strategic planning and assessment. Jon has developed a strong construction and horticultural knowledge following 10 years working in the landscape construction industry.
His experience in both design and construction has provided a unique understanding of the design and documentation process and the construction phase of projects. Jon is able to communicate with a range of stakeholders and has been the project lead on a number of large urban projects including the Thomas & Hay Street upgrade, Sydney and intermittent Lead on City to the Lake and Constitution Avenue upgrade, Canberra.

Ross Mills
CONTEXT

Ross has experience as a Landscape Architect in open space planning, visual impact assessments, ecological management plans and design detailing.
Ross has worked on large and small national and international projects, helping him gain a strong understanding of different scales and cultures. Ross has strong skills in physical and computer modelling, as well as graphic visualisations and analysis.
He is passionate about integrating natural systems into the urban environment, incorporating water sensitive urban design, urban agriculture and green roofs into his projects.

Julie Trinh

Julie has had experience in working on a range of residential, commercial, infrastructure, urban design and public domain projects at both a local and international scale.
She has exemplary graphic and analytical skills and is involved in all facets of the documentation process in producing conceptual designs, cad drawings, 3D computer visualisations, illustrative plans and sections and planting design.
Julie is passionate about horticulture and has extensive knowledge on a range of native and ornamental plant species.

Lachlan has experience working on a variety of public domain, educational, recreational and commercial projects at multiple scales. He is passionate about creating landscapes which effectively facilitate and service the people who use them.

As a landscape architect he has been involved in all stages of design and documentation, producing hand drawn conceptual plans, a wide variety of CAD drawings, sections and illustrative plans along with various design and consultation reports.

Darren Mansfield
CONTEXT

Darren’s experience as a Landscape Architect covers a wide range of projects from private homes through to major road and rail infrastructure, airports, embassies, campuses, parks and resorts. He has directed the planning and design of significant public and private landscapes locally, nationally and internationally and brings a deep technical understanding, design experience and leadership to projects.

He brings a strong sustainability ethic to his work including those with water sensitive urban design components and has co-authored the Roads and Maritime Service’s Water Sensitive Urban Design Guidelines. He is also the author of a book on Australian rainforest plants.

His experience covers all aspects of project delivery from concept design to drawing and specification coordination, consultant coordination, programming, design and material selection, production drawings, reports, and construction administration.

His focus is to ensure that Context is recognised as consistently producing high quality work.

During his eleven years of professional experience as a landscape architect, Christoph has worked on a wide range of projects from concept design through to construction documentation and construction.

Christoph’s strengths in design, 3D modelling, graphics and documentation have been applied to a multitude of projects across Australia and the Middle East – from large scale infrastructure projects, extensive parklands and other open space projects to public domain and large scale city wide residential developments as well as smaller residential projects.

Hamish Putt

Hamish has over nine years experience as a landscape architect covering project and client management as well as open space planning.
He is experienced in leading public engagement programs, working for many Sydney and NSW based councils in Masterplanning and Public Domain, and also community initiatives in London UK.

Hamish has delivered many projects from start-up to project completion and has an extensive knowledge of implementation of open space and public domain projects.
Hamish is a registered landscape architect with AILA, having previous heavy involvement with NZILA while studying in New Zealand.

Bhavna Arumugam

Bhavna has experience working on a range of residential, public domain and commercial projects, at both local and international scales. She has been involved in all stages of

As a former graphic designer Bhavna brings to CONTEXT a strong range of graphical skills with a strong attention to detail, in both conceptual and technical drawing.
Bhavna is passionate about exploring the sustainable and ecological benefits of green architecture within her designs, particularly in the fields of urban design, urban agriculture, green walls and green roofs.

Jayden Ng
CONTEXT

Jayden is an enthusiastic designer with interests in large scale urban landscapes and their influence on social and ecological systems. At a smaller scale, his interest is in the interaction and relationships formed between people and everyday public spaces.
He has excellent technique in communicating design intent through illustrative plans, sections, detailed drawings, analytical diagrams and renderings. Additionally, Jayden uses 3D modelling in Rhino to test and visualise design.

As a Landscape Architect Steve has experience working on a range of residential, public domain and commercial projects at both a local and regional scale. Mengling Fu
CONTEXT

Mengling is devoted to providing opportunities for people to enrich their experiences through transformations to their senses, exploration of histories, as well as exposure to unique cultures. As a landscape architect, she has had experiences working on a range of local residential, commercial and infrastructural projects and has been involved with international regional master planning.

An interest in fine art led Mengling to develop a concentration and appreciation for art in landscape. She employs a range of skills to deliver concept drawings, 3D model and montages that demonstrate the essence and core concepts of designs.

Ilana Blum
CONTEXT

Ilana believes landscape architecture can re-activate the lost and impenetrable environments of our cities, through potential to design for all scales of daily life - from everyday interactions to the larger showcase productions.

She has experience in masterplanning and reconceptualising derelict cities while allowing her extensive global experience and culturally sensitive awareness to create invigorating designs.

She is passionate about creating universally accessible spaces that invigorate communities, are physically and socially inclusive to all, and are statements of comfort and health. Her graduation project at UNSW won her the Harry Howard Prize of 2016.
